Eris Dawn (Haring) Lenz, 64, of Brookings, SD passed away Sunday, January 2, 2011 surrounded by her family members at Avera McKennan Hospital, Sioux Falls, SD. Funeral Services have been set for 10:30am Thursday, January 6, 2011 at First Lutheran Church, Brookings. Visitation will be from 5:00pm to 7:00pm Wednesday, January 5, 2011 at Rudes Funeral Home, Brookings.
Eris Dawn Haring was born September 7, 1946, in Jamestown, ND to Richard and Esther (Henning) Haring. She graduated from high school in Hebron, ND, the Class of 1964. She then attended the University of North Dakota before earning a nursing degree at North Dakota College of Science.
On June 22, 1968, she was united in marriage to Ron Lenz at Grace Lutheran Church in Sisseton, SD. The couple lived in Watertown and Vermillion before Ron joined the staff at South Dakota State University in 1977. Eris and Ron had three children: Jackie, Jennifer and Greg.
Eris was a nurse at the Brookings Clinic; Prairie Crossings Assisted Living Center in Brookings and White Care Center before joining Ron in retirement in 2008.
Eris was a member of First Lutheran Church, she enjoyed her family, especially her four grandchildren. She was also an avid reader and quilter. Eris was also a member of the First Lutheran Church in Brookings.
Survivors include her husband, Ron Lenz of Brookings, her three children, Jackie Lenz of Bloomington, MN, Jennifer (Mike) Cotton of Volga and son, Greg (Heather) Lenz of Owatonna, MN; four grandchildren, Allyson Lenz and Zachariah Lenz both of Owatonna, MN, Elizabeth Cotton and Barrett Cotton both of Volga, SD; her mother, Esther Haring of Eden Prairie, MN; five brothers and sisters: Cynthia (Paul) Setnes of Estelline, SD, Richard (Karen) Haring of New Brighton, MN, David (Sally) Haring of Arlington, VA, Julie Haglund of Shakopee, MN and Doug (Ruth) Haring of Palos Verdes Estates, CA.
Eris was preceded in death by her father.
