Denis Joseph Woslager, 73, of Brookings, SD died Wednesday, February 3, 2010 at Avera Heart Hospital, Sioux Falls, SD. Mass of Christian Burial will be 10:30am, Tuesday, February 9, 2010, at St. Thomas More Catholic Church, Brookings, SD. Visitation will be from 4:00pm to 7:00pm Monday, February 8, 2010 at Rude’s Funeral Home. A Liturgical Wake services will be at 6:00pm, Monday, February 8, 2010, at Rude’s Funeral Home.
Denis J. Woslager was born on March 10, 1936, in Clearwater, NE, the son of Albert and Rose (Venteicher) Woslager. He received his education in country school through the 8th grade and graduated from Pierce High School in 1953.
In February of 1955, he enlisted in the United States Army, and served as a mechanic on amphibious vehicles until he received his honorable discharge in February of 1957. During his time in the military, he received the Sharp Shooters Badge firing the M1 Rifle and also received the Good Conduct Medal.
Denis was united in marriage to Patricia Ann Robinson on August 5, 1958, in Norfolk, NE. After their marriage they lived in Norfolk until moving to Brookings, SD in 1961. Denis then owned and operated Den’s Apco Service. In 1978, he was employed at Sexauer Grain CO, and became the manager from 1984 until his retirement in 1991. After eight years of dedicated care by Denis, Patricia died on November 23, 2001 after a long battle with ovarian cancer.
On October 28, 2006 Denis was united in marriage to Janelle June Reuter of which has been Gods blessing from Heaven. “Travel, laughter and life, what a joy God blessed us with. Love to you forever JJ.”
His retirement years were spent in his yard, fishing and traveling. One of his greatest pleasures in life was staying involved with his family and grandchildren through a visit or a phone call.
Grateful for having shared his life are his wife Janelle of Brookings, SD; his children Debra (Marvin) Privett of Brookings, SD, James Woslager of Crofton, NE, Randy (and his special friend Charity) Woslager of Lead, SD; two brothers, Gerald (Darlene) Woslager of Pierce, NE and Ray (Judy) Woslager of Pierce, NE; two sisters, Rita (Bernie) Meurrens of Prescott, AZ and Beverly (Jack) Robinson of Mitchell, SD; one brother-in-law, Marlin (Darlene) Reuter of Norfolk, NE; sister-in-law, Luetta Reuter, of Wisner, NE; stepchildren, Brenda (Scott) Schroeder of Norfolk, NE and Rachel (Aaron) Arens of Norfolk, NE; five grandchildren, Nicholas Privett of Brookings, Jayson Privett of Brookings, Ji Woslager of Omaha, Nicole Woslager of Omaha and Christopher (Kamille) Woslager of Hartford, SD; step grandchildren, Lacey Schroeder of Tempe, AZ, Austin Schroeder, Hunter Arens and Stephen Arens all of Norfolk, NE; great grandchildren, Trishelle Woslager and Christian Farmer, along with several nieces and nephews.
Denis was preceded in death by his parents, first wife, Patricia, one brother, two sisters, one grandson Adam Privett and brother-in-law Calvin Reuter, one stepson, Brian.
